You are no doubt seeing a lot of ads selling reputation management services. And there may be good reasons for obtaining these services. But the basics of reputation management include simple things that you can and should be doing yourself.
First, set up an alert in Google for your name and the name of your business. You may also want to set up alerts for your main competitors, main products and services, or keywords. Google will then alert you any time there is a mention on the internet of your name, your business, or the other items you have indicated. (To do this, log into your Google account and look for the “Alerts” link.)
This allows you to easily monitor what’s being said about you in reviews and in the press. That’s the first step in reputation management.
